Patrick Corbin Ends Nats' 43-Game Starting Pitcher Win Drought

Aug 28, 2022 7:28 PM

Major league losses leader Patrick Corbin ended Washington's record 43-game drought without a starting pitcher earning a victory as the Nationals beat the Cincinnati Reds 3-2 Sunday.

Corbin (5-17) allowed one earned run and four hits in six innings while striking out five. A Washington starting pitcher had not earned a victory since Josiah Gray won at Philadelphia on July 6, shattering the previous big league record of 35 games set by the 1949 Washington Senators.

Jacob deGrom 'Felt Good' In Return

Aug 3, 2022 11:47 AM

Jacob deGrom dazzled in his first major league start in more than a year, allowing one run on three hits and striking out six in five innings before a bullpen meltdown cost the Mets in a 5-1 loss to the Nationals on Tuesday night.

Sidelined for the second half of last season by an elbow injury and shut down late in spring training because of a stress reaction in his right scapula, deGrom got a standing ovation from a crowd full of Mets fans prior to his first game back in almost 13 months.
